Jonas Vingaard, Mark Cavendish and Sepp Kuss head to Saitama

Japanese fans will see Jonas Vingaard’s yellow jersey at the eighth edition of the Tour de France Saitama Criterium on November 6.

The event hasn’t taken place since 2019 due to the COVID health crisis, but is back on the off-season schedule.

Dozens of elite professional men will make the trip to Asia which will also include a stopover in Singapore, a new criterium also organized by ASO.

Other big names include Chris Froome, Sepp Kuss, Magnus Sheffield, Geraint Thomas, Mark Cavendish and local hero Yukiya Arashiro, winner of the last edition in 2019.

Vincenzo Nibali and Alejandro Valverde, who both retire at Il Lombardia on Saturday, will also make the trip.

Thousands of spectators gather along the 3.5 km street circuit with 17 laps that will wind through the heart of Saitama, very close to Tokyo.

Marcel Kittel will also be present as an ambassador for the critérium.
